Chief Executive Officer 

Western Wahkiakum County Telephone Company, dba WWEST COMMUNICATIONS, is a rural broadband carrier offering a variety of services in southwest Washington, located along the Columbia River.  Its rural area offers hiking, hunting, clamming, and both fresh and salt water fishing while still being only 30 minutes from Astoria, Oregon and an hour from Longview, Washington.

Wahkiakum has 10+ employees and serves approximately 1,000 rural customers.  The company has built a state-of-the-art fiber-to-the-home network that reaches every customer in its serving area.

The responsibilities of this position include directing the overall operations of the company and positioning the company both strategically and tactically in the evolving broadband paradigm. This CEO position is the main interface with the Board of Directors and Officers. 

General Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of rural broadband industry
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures utilized in successful rural broadband companies or an equivalent entity
  • Proven track record of achieving successful short-term and long-term corporate objectives across multiple technology platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, managerial, and board relations skills
  • Ability to interact successfully and consistently with the public, management, and other employees
  • Create an environment that promotes staff teamwork, communication, and responsive customer service 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a rural broadband executive
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulatory processes
  • Familiarity with plant operations 

Working knowledge of the Federal Communications Commission’s programs for federal universal service support. Demonstrated understanding of the obligations, reporting requirements and strategic and tactical opportunities. 

Minimum Education Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public administration, engineering, or associated field of study required
  • Five years in a supervisory capacity
